Plaque Blamed for Both Tooth Decay and Gum Disease

Decay – causing bacteria still linger between teeth where toothbrush bristles can’t reach. Flossing removes plaque and food particles from between the teeth and under the gum line. Eat a balanced diet and limit between meal snacks. Visit your dentist regularly for professional cleanings and oral exams. Talk to your dentist about what types of oral care products will be the most effective for you. Replace your toothbrush every three or four months, or sooner of the bristles become frayed. A worn toothbrush will not do a very good job of cleaning your teeth. Visit your dentist as recommended for your particular level of dental health and home care. For example, if you are not very good about flossing every day, perhaps you should consider spending the extra money and time to visit the dentist more than once per year or six months.
